The Hurt Locker - Last year's fundraiser

Friday 2nd April   Doors open 7pm   Film starts 8pm

Director - Kathryn Bigelow – US 2008/9 – 131mins - Cert 15

Shortly after being festooned with Oscars, PFS is delighted to present this riveting and provocative story of bomb disposal expert Staff Sgt William James and his fixation with destroying IEDs in war-torn Baghdad. As discord prompted by James’s unconventional, even suicidal approach mounts within his unit, so too does the conflict in the city itself and The Hurt Locker brilliantly marries and contrasts these various tensions. Inner conflicts within James and his brave but highly skilled colleagues add to a gripping narrative, evocatively underpinned by Bigelow’s trademark flair for conveying atmosphere (c/f The Loveless, Near Dark, Strange Days) and fine performances from a largely little known cast, particularly Jeremy Renner as Will James. Definitely unmissable!

As always with the fundraiser we will be opening our doors earlier than usual and a licensed bar will available. Please come and join us for what will be a great opportunity to watch a fascinating and topical film.

Admission is £6 for all tickets (Season tickets are not valid for this screening)

Seating is limited to 100 so you are advised to come earlier rather than later in order to be guaranteed admission.
